The proportion of raw material quality factors in the failure analysis of slewing bearings has dropped significantly, but it is still one of the main factors affecting the failure of slewing bearings. Whether the selection of materials is appropriate is still a necessary consideration in the failure analysis of slewing bearings.

Slewing bearing (turntable bearing) manufacturing technology refers to the shape processing technology, raceway heat treatment technology, etc. Machining mainly refers to dimensional accuracy, surface finish, etc. With the numerical control of processing equipment, the accuracy is constantly improving, and these elements have little effect on the service life; track quenching heat treatment is also the main element that affects the early failure of the slewing bearing, but it is affected by the equipment and operators great influence. During the operation of the slewing ring (turntable bearing), it accepts a certain load, even if it is a static load, but for the steel balls and raceways, the stress is cyclically reciprocating, and the material will be tumbling and fatigued so that the turntable bearing reaches the end of its life. The phenomenon is that a part of the outer surface material suddenly falls off like fish scales. This phenomenon is called fatigue fall off. Tiredness and shedding is a manifestation of raceway damage.

For some slewing bearings, the load is very small, whether it is axial, radial or overturning moment. The structural design is gradually becoming thinner and lighter. But most slewing bearings are fixed and standard.
