Worm gear manufacturers analyze the maintenance tips of the equipment

For a new worm gear reducer or a newly replaced worm gear and worm gear, the new lubricating oil should be replaced when it runs for 7-14 days at the first use; the quality of the lubricating oil should be checked regularly in the future use. The lubricating oil must be replaced in time.

For long-term continuous operation worm gear reducers, it is necessary to replace the lubricating oil every 2-3 months; for worm gear reducers that work no more than 8 hours per day, it is necessary to replace the lubricating oil every 4-6 months; Under severe working conditions, the number of replacement lubricants should be added appropriately.

When changing the oil regularly, the inside of the worm gear reducer should be cleaned, and the touch condition of the tooth surface, the axial movement of the worm and the bearing should be checked. If abnormalities are found, the parts should be adjusted or replaced; the test run should be carried out again after replacing the parts. Then I started to work. Regarding the continuous working worm gear reducer, the oil temperature should be checked frequently during operation. When the oil temperature exceeds 90℃, it should be stopped immediately for checking, troubleshooting or replacement of lubricating oil before continuing to work.

In worm gear drives, due to data and structural reasons, the strength of the worm's helical teeth is usually higher than that of the worm gear teeth, so failure often occurs on the worm gear teeth. Under normal conditions, worm gear teeth fail due to insufficient bending fatigue strength. As long as the number of worm gear teeth is large or in open transmission, it is necessary to ensure the root bending fatigue strength as the main calculation principle.

Therefore, the closed worm drive is usually planned according to the touch fatigue strength of the tooth surface, and check according to the tortuous fatigue strength of the tooth root. Worm gear materials not only have satisfactory strength, but more importantly, they should have outstanding running-in, anti-wear and wear resistance.

Worms are generally made of carbon steel or alloy steel. For less important transmission and low-speed medium-load worms, 40 and 45 steels can be used, and the hardness is 220~300HBS after quenching and tempering. Commonly used materials for worm gears are cast tin bronze, cast aluminum bronze and cast iron. When the efficiency is not high, especially when self-locking is required, gray cast iron can be used. In order to avoid deformation, the worm gear should generally be aged.
